Learning Indicators

Percentage of correct answers of the test

Users: 3 - Average Rating: 4.33

This indicator will measure the student’s percentage of correct answers in a test. This quantity can be used as an indication of the student’s level of understanding on a topic: if the percentage is low, this suggests that the student hasn’t assimilated the concept and need to revise the topic or lacks some fundamentals and need to switch to easier topics; on the contrary, if the percentage is high, he/she can move to advanced topics.

Importance of the indicator for the students’ learning methodology:
The percentage of correct answers in a test can allow us to assert the student’s level of understanding of a determined concept, allowing to plan a specific learning path for the student.

We had some nice discussion on this in iMath meeting with the partners. The question is/was whether this is a good indicator to measure the performance of a recommender system. On one hand partners said that if answers are OK, then apparently the student did not learn anything. On the other hand, the idea is that it is very motivating if answers are OK and the student will go in her discovery path of the learning process.
